How A Light Bulb Works and Other Interesting Tidbits

To understand how light you need to understand certain terms including voltage, watt and amperage. The energy product is called a dropping the voltage of the bulb. Amperage is the energy of a light bulb used to produce light. Watts is the electrical flow or energy produced by a bulb. This tells you how energy flows through your electric light bulb in any given second.

Simply put, the voltage returns to the strength of the force of electricity that flows through a bulb. Current tells you how fast electricity flows and resistance tells you how much space a current must pass through. All these factors affect the performance of your bulbs.

When you flip a light switch, a current of electricity passes through your bulb. The filament of the bulb is then heated, possibly producing a glow or "light" we're used to seeing. Believe it or not, the lightest light bulbs are better at producing heat than they are to produce light. Traditional incandescent bulbs waste energy much more than other light sources simply because a light bulb produces heat so much. This is of course unless you use your light bulbs to heat a room!

Now, most people go for cheap bulbs. Why not? Dear incandescent bulbs produce a sufficient quantity of light and come in different shapes and styles.

You may find, however, with a little experimentation to your needs are best met with another bulb.

Lets look at some T8 Lighting preferences to decide which bulb may work best for you.

They also last much longer. You can use them indoors or outdoors. They do get hot though, so keep that in mind when purchasing.

If you want soft lighting and energy efficient you can consider compact fluorescent bulbs. Compact bulbs produce light that is similar to incandescent bulbs, only soft. These bulbs also use much less electricity than standard bulbs and last much longer. Because of this, they are a good value. You can use compact bulbs in almost any ordinary lamp. Most cost the same as traditional bulbs, so you save money in the long run. Most compact bulbs last up to 10,000 hours. This is the value of several years in a bulb.

Special Needs
